Pete is Founder & CEO of Middleburg Venture Partners a boutique advisory firm that focuses on strategy, insight, innovation, and investment in TMT (Technology, Media & Telecommunications) and Public Sector verticals.  


Pete’s a highly accomplished leader, executive and company officer who has consistently demonstrated sustained, long-term success. He is very effective operating at the highest levels in business and government in multi-cultural environments. 

Pete is expert in revenue and EBITDA growth, leadership development, sales force transformation, product management and development, pricing strategy, marketing & branding, and creating effective customer and partner programs.

After over 35 years leading significant divisions within major companies, Pete now focuses his skills and experience on Venture Capital and Private Equity. He is a principal with Blu Venture Investors a venture capital investment company that supports early-stage entrepreneurs and a Senior Advisor for Oak Hill Capital Partners. 

Pete is also on the board of 7 companies which focus on; Data Centers, Managed Services, Subsea Cable, Visual Communication, Bit Exact Encoding & Cloud Acceleration, Luxury Consignment & Vintage Marketplace, and Cloud Call Centers.  He was formally on the board of Radial (eCommerce, Payment Tax and Fraud (PTF) and Logistics) which was sold to the Belgian Post Group for $820M. 

Pete’s a proven leader who has been pressure tested in some of the most aggressive and high-profile companies in the world. He has extensive public speaking, press and mass media experience across newspapers, periodicals, radio, and television. He has traveled millions of miles and visited over 35 countries. He holds a Department of Homeland Security TS/SCI Clearance (Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information).


Pete spent 3 years as Chief Sales Officer at Equinix leading global sales strategy and execution, global accounts, sales operations, inside sales and channel management.  He was responsible for $50M in annual sales and $3.6B in revenue.  Equinix is the leading global premium colocation provider with network and cloud dense facilities.  Today they have over 200 data centers in 44+ markets across five continents connecting more than 10,000 companies directly to their customers and partners through cross-connects and the largest digital exchanges in the world. 


He was previously Executive Vice President, Commercial Sales and Support at Frontier Communications.  When Frontier announced the $8.6B transaction with Verizon in 2009, tripling the size of Frontier, Pete was asked to build the commercial business selling to over 600,000 small, medium, enterprise, government and carrier customers.  The commercial business represented over 50% of the revenue of the company, generated over $2.3B in revenue and included over 1,400 people.


In late 2004, the CEO of Frontier Communications, Pete’s former boss at Microsoft, asked him in to build the sales, marketing, product and business development organization at Frontier.  As a corporate officer and member of the 7-person Senior Leadership Team Pete was involved in all strategic decisions and board of directors meetings. He also developed 45 new products generating over $400M, started up 3 new business units generating over $100M and participated in over 15 due diligence activities.


Pete worked at Microsoft from June 1991 to January 2005 in various leadership positions. Before joining Frontier, was living in London, England as Vice President, EMEA Public Sector.  He was asked to replicate the success of the US Public Sector organization and build Microsoft’s Public Sector business for Europe, Middle East and Africa.  Pete organized, staffed and structured the business in 2 years growing it to a $1.7B business.


While at Microsoft Pete developed Microsoft’s worldwide strategy for enterprise customers, honed his financial and business skills via countless presentations to Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer and created Microsoft’s US Public Sector business growing it from a $133M Federal business to a complete Public Sector business with revenue of $1.3B. 

Prior to Microsoft, Pete worked at IBM in various sales, technical and management roles.
